Microfilm Scanning
The scanning process depends on the nature of your requirements and the type of microfilm or microfiche you have. By assessing the reason you are having your microfilm converted to electronic format we can offer the right service for your needs. For example, if you have a set of microfiche which you currently view using the film or fiche reader but feel that it is very time consuming we can scan microfiche/microfilm to CD which will fulfil your requirements.
On other hand, if you have a large archive of microfilm which contain corporate historical records which need to be quite frequently accessed by various different departments, we can scan your microfilm and microfiche to an electronic library of fully indexed and searchable files.
The final scanned images (if originally microfilmed to a good standard) will be of the same high quality as the original documents.
Indexing Process
Further to the microfilm scanning and microfiche scanning process, all of the scanned documents or drawings can be indexed to enable fast and efficient searches. For example, we can index your scanned microfilm or microfiche by the following categories;
- Reference Number
- Client Name
- Drawing Number / Part Name
- Title
- Date
Files indexing helps users to search and identify files using different categories like those above. Scanned microfilm and microfiche images can also be converted using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to editable formats such as, Microsoft Word, Excel or CSV format and searchable PDF. This technique is very useful for companies who are in the research, legal, pharmaceutical and editorial fields.
Free Search, View, Print and E-mail Software
To make the conversion process seamless for easy retrieval, we can also supply our FREE file search software as a part of our microfilm and microfiche scanning service to all our clients on a CD format so all you need to access your files is a PC.
Our file retrieval software is user-friendly and especially designed for non-technical users. Once you receive the disk, simply insert it into your disk drive and a file retrieval window will appear on your screen. All you need to do is simply type in the file name you require and within seconds the file will be found and displayed on your screen. You can then view, print, share or e-mail the searched file.
